Together, safely: Paul and Phantom’s Story
“My life has always been a series of challenges. Although I lost my sight due to a medical error, I never let myself be discouraged. I learned to forge my own path. However, the true transformation came in 2016, when I received my guide dog, Phantom. He helped me regain my independence and, above all, gave me the confidence that I can conquer the world. My disability is not an obstacle to living. If I want to go anywhere in the world, I know I can.
Before, I needed constant help. Now, I can go out on my own, walk through the city, and take care of things without depending on others.
Phantom is more than a guide; he is a loyal friend, always there. It’s incredible how an animal can sense when you’re having a tough day. Phantom calms me simply with his presence.
Phantom is not just “my eyes,” but a symbol of courage, hope, and unconditional love.
Without him, my life wouldn’t be as it is today: full of determination and courage.”

For a blind person, a guide dog is an indispensable aid.
We bring hope and independence to people with disabilities.
We are a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of visually impaired people in Romania by training guide dogs that ensure their independence and safety in mobility. Additionally, we support children and adults with disabilities through animal-assisted therapy, contributing to their mental and emotional well-being.
However, challenges are numerous, because even though access with guide dogs is permitted by law, visually impaired people find it difficult or downright impossible to access public spaces such as stores, restaurants, and public transport, where permission is often negotiated on an individual basis.
Training a guide dog is expensive. The costs go up to 15,000 euros, including quality food, veterinary care, and the training process itself. To cover these costs and continue making a positive impact on the community, we rely on donations and most often own funds. Despite financial difficulties, we continue to play a key role as a reliable partner for those in need, helping to build a more inclusive and accessible society.
