Apply for a Guide Dog

If you are a person with a visual impairment and believe you are ready to have a guide dog, please fill out the form below and we will contact you.

Attention! We do not guarantee a fixed time for the delivery of the dog to future beneficiaries. Before the official handover, there will be some compatibility tests between the future beneficiary and the guide dog.

Eligibility conditions:

  • You are registered as legally blind;
  • You have permanent residency in Romania;
  • You are at least eighteen years old.

A guide dog offers the blind person an independent, safe, and fulfilling life. Beside the invaluable help in mobility, the guide dog serves as an emotional support, which, for some individuals, is their only source of comfort. Having said that, life with a guide dog is not easy. As imagined, it involves daily walks, food costs, medical expenses, toys, etc.

Since Angel Dog relies exclusively on donations and has a long waiting list, we are forced to prioritize individuals who already move independently. You must have a strong desire to improve your independence and mobility. The training period, which may last up to a year, requires sustained effort, a positive attitude, and determination to succeed.

The blind person and the guide dog form a team, which, like in the case of people, needs time to develop harmoniously. Patience and dedication are essential.

You must be in good physical health to take the dog for walks at least twice a day and play with it daily. Labradors are known for shedding more hair than other breeds, so be prepared to clean more often than before their arrival.

You must live in a stable and harmonious environment. The guide dog must get used to its new environment and owner. It needs safety, love, and a strict routine.

You must already move independently. The guide dog is an essential helper for mobility, but it cannot replace the owner’s ability to orient themselves and impose direction.
